About Us

We were living in Cincinnati, where I was working 60 hours a week for a software company. When the tech bubble burst, and my boss asked who I wanted to let go, I gulped and said “Me!”

We missed Fort Bragg and wanted to move back - David and I left in 1982 for school and ‘real’ jobs. But if we came back, how would we live? We asked friends what was missing, and what we heard was “Good Ice Cream!” Making ice cream sounded like a delicious way to make a living.

 

So we abandoned our jobs and college degrees, and learned to make ice cream. I used my marketing experience to write a business plan, design the shop, and spread the word.

 

David is the outdoor person, a naturalist at heart. He’s active in the Mendocino Land Trust, and the local Audubon Society. Being on the Mendocino Coast really suits him.

 

I just plain missed my friends, small town life, and living by the ocean.
